Pierre Bastien replaces Darkstar
The French artist and multi-instrumentalist Pierre Bastien will replace the British trio Darkstar at the Bimhuis on day 2 of the Viral Radio Festival. Due to family matters Darkstar have had to cancel their performance. Naturally, we respect their decision, and wish them all the best in the coming days. Darkstar will now play on a new Viral Radio night at the Bimhuis on Friday 14 January. Pierre Bastien is a regular support act of Squarepusher, and has released work on Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label. First names Viral Radio Festival 2010 announced
Ras G, Darkstar and Knalpot are the first names we would like to announce for the third edition of the annual Viral Radio Festival. They will play live at the Bimhuis on Saturday 4 September.
The Viral Radio Festival is an annual celebration of live electronic music and DJ culture that takes place at the Bimhuis and TrouwAmsterdam, from turbo soul to hyperrhythm. Previous editions hosted such musicians as Kode9, Moritz von Oswald, Samiyam, Icarus, Hudson Mohawke, Daedelus and many more. This year the festival will take place from 2-4 September.

Viral Radio Festival Day 2: bleep bleep woooooosh
Viral Radio invited CDR to kick off the Viral Radio Festival 2009
The first night of the Viral Radio Festival 2009 was a modest, albeit incredibly inspiring, success. An intimate crowd of producers, DJs and family and friends visited the first CDR night at De Verdieping. Thanks to everyone for their support, and Gavin, Tony, Mamiko, Hudson Mohawke and Icarus for their involvement. We look forward to the next one, which will most likely take place in August.
The second day of the festival will take place at the Bimhuis tonight, with Icarus hailing from London and Melbourne to bring electronic music by the guidelines of the International Standards for Jungle Music: 175 BPM straight for 12 years now, engineering their hyperrhythmic speed beats with MAX/MSP like scientists at the CERN Hadron Collider. They will be joined by another electroacoustic duo from the UK, Furt. ‘One of the most blisteringly energetic and experimental partnerships over the past twenty years.’ (The Guardian). In the cafe around the concerts we will hear Mrs. Mohawke herself, the ubiquitous Mamiko Motto (Samurai FM/Kindred Spirits).
