"Thank you Viral motherfucking Radio."
The Gaslamp Killer
Darkstar (Hyperdub/London)
Emotive bass music that is as patient in its structure as it is imaginative in its texture.
“The sense you get is that the human, physical world has revolved ever so slightly out of reach. It’s heartbreakingly beautiful.” / The Guardian
“As their first long player, Darkstar have produced an album many bands with many more releases and experience under their belt can only dream of. Elegant, downbeat, breezy, sometimes melancholy and bleak, sometimes optimistic, ‘North’ will surprise many, a classic record for short days and long nights.” / Kode9

LD (Hyperdub/London)
Master craftsman of acetate cutting and cutting edge authority of bass music, deeply embedded in Kode9 territories.
Ikonika (Hyperdub/London)
Female representative of the Hyperdub record label, London’s most iconic sound after the Big Ben. “From the vantage point offered by her first album, you can trace the distinctive quality of Sara Abdel-Hamid’s productions all the way from her debut 12-inch, 2008’s Please. But while her four releases to date have all boasted unusual hooks that snag your attention, parts of Contact, Want, Love, Have feature synth-painted soundscapes into which it’s possible to disappear completely.” BBC
Cinnaman (Viral Radio/Amsterdam)
Zeitgeist-riding artist that discovers new genres faster than you can say future garage.

After weeks of secretiveness and diplomacy, the moment has come that we can finally announce our programme for the North Sea Jazz Festival 2010. The festival is widely acknowledged as the one of the biggest jazz festivals in the world, and has a strong reputation for showcasing many different areas of jazz and improvised music from all eras. Viral Radio is outlandishly honoured to host its own stage.
From the press release:
In the past few years in various cities around the world, scenes of musicians have popped up with a heightened interest in complex rhythmstructures of changing speeds and intensities. These hyperrhythms are created by producers who have grown up in an ocean of sound of ubiquitous media, from computer games to iPhones, and who are connected through a myriad of online networks. More than once, these producers know the hardware and software better than their developers, mutating into architects of complex, gravity-defying structures.
Cities as Los Angeles, Glasgow and London are their main protagonists, with labels as Brainfeeder, LuckyMe and Warp. In Amsterdam, Viral Radio has been active as a vehicle for the dissemination of these new electronic musics since 2007, with regular programmes at Trouw and the Bimhuis.
Programme:
Dimlite (CH)
Hudson Mohawke (UK)
Dorian Concept (AU)
Mike Slott (IRE)
We hope to see you all there, and look forward to an incredible evening.
